As Operations Director, and latterly Support Services Director, I had the opportunity to manage Connor directly through both BirchenallHowden and ASK4, and very quickly came to rely on him as someone who would properly take ownership and see things through. He brought a level of clarity and structure to what could often be quite messy or fast-moving situations and did so without over-complicating things or creating noise.
A real strength of Connor's was his combination of technical understanding and the way he handled people – often in high-pressured environments. When we had major outages or impending deadlines and others had proved less reliable, I knew I could call on Connor to jump in and resolve problems. Over time, I came to rely on him heavily in client situations, not just to understand what was going on, but to hold difficult conversations, build trust and give clients confidence that things were in hand. He has a good way of translating detail into something that people can actually understand, whilst still holding his ground when needed. That balance is not easy to get right, especially in the tech industry.
Once I had handed something over to him, I knew I could leave it and it would be sorted. Reliable, sensible and easy to work with, and someone who added real value both in how we operated internally and how we came across to clients. Above all, he was a joy to work with, many late nights and early starts in data centres were spent together, and he was always good natured and a pleasure to be around.
Connor and I worked together for a few years. He is super intelligent and technically excellent. I would highly recommend him for any role. I have tried to employ him a few times since then but haven't been blessed enough to pin him down.
I worked with Connor for over 8 years, starting on the same day in the same job. From day one he always brought a level of positive energy, skill and dedication to work that is rare to encounter. He thrives in a crisis and is able to bring a practical, objective, solution-focused viewpoint to any problem no matter the pressure and urgency. When you work with Connor, you know that when you point him at a problem, it will get solved!
This doesn't only apply to his technical skill, I've never met a single person who doesn't love working with him. He's a considerate and compassionate leader and a reliable friend. I truly couldn't recommend him more highly.
I had the pleasure of working with Connor for 4 years at BHL then ASK4. He is one of the best leaders I've ever worked under and the gold standard when I think of what makes a good manager. He has so much patience and has gone out of his way time and time again to help coach and mentor me. Even now despite not working together for 3 years, he still makes time to help me with issues whether they are technical or operational.
I had the pleasure of working alongside Connor during our Level 3 Counselling course where we regularly collaborated in triad work. Connor consistently demonstrated a high level of insight, bringing thoughtful perspectives to both practice sessions and group discussions.
